However it does not work on 9-CURRENT as shown here:

I am investigating the issue with sem_wait but if you come with a
workaround do not hesitate to send a followup.

Committed, thanks! Actually I was wrong with my followup, the problem 
only occurs inside tinderbox (when running a 9.0 kernel the configure 
runs ok, thanks kwm@ for help in testing).
