From my error log file:

[Thu Oct 08 09:26:53.379989 2015] [:error] [pid 34302] [client XXX] PHP Fatal error:  Class 'XMLReader' not found in XXX/includes/libs/XmlTypeCheck.php on line 133, referer: https://XXX/wiki/Spezial:Hochladen

The error goes away if php-xmlreader is installed. I suggest declaring a dependency on php-xmlreader in the port. www/mediawiki125 might have the same problem, although I didn't check.
