@Naram, what ways might there be to decouple this port from needing to be updated when the freetype port is updated?

It only needs it because of how their internal debugger works, it requires the source code of freetype as opposed to just the library. It would probably be something that would have to be asked upstream.

Bundled software isn't fun :/

Please ask upstream to change this, I assume that using a older freetype2 version results in run-time issues when using there debugger?
