Description Martin Waschbüsch 2016-03-04 09:54:56 UTC
This port is marked as 'BROKEN=unfetchable'

But it keeps coming up in the portscout report as

Port | Current version | New version
net-mgmt/weathermap | 1.1.1 | 28.0.0

which is odd, given that the single provided MASTER_SITES URL
(MASTER_SITES=http://netmon.grnet.gr/weathermap/dist/)
does not seem to exist.

Anyway, the current portscout notifications about this port are misleading at best, so maybe we should add 'PORTSCOUT=ignore' ?

Or, if there is no specific reason to keep the port, maybe remove it?

A commit references this bug:

Author: rakuco
Date: Fri Mar 4 12:17:52 UTC 2016
New revision: 410104
URL: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/ports/410104

Log:
Deprecate and expire in 1 month.

The port has been unfetchable for a while now, marked BROKEN since November
  2015 and unmaintained.

While here, switch MASTER_SITES to the https version to try to silence
portscout: accessing broken links with the http version results in an HTTP 302
response that I think causes portscout to report that new versions are
available even though they are not. Since broken links in the https version
result in HTTP 404, hopefully this will make portscout quiet again.

Comment 3 Raphael Kubo da Costa freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2016-03-04 12:20:28 UTC
I've marked the port for expiration in 1 month. As for portscout, like comment #2 says I'm experimenting with changing MASTER_SITES first; if it does not work, we can certainly set PORTSCOUT=ignore.

Thanks for the report, those portscout emails to freebsd-ports are really annoying.

A commit references this bug:

Author: rakuco
Date: Sat Mar 5 19:04:59 UTC 2016
New revision: 410199
URL: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/ports/410199

Log:
  Set PORTSCOUT=ignore.

Unfortunately portscout still emails the ports mailing list with bogus version
updates, so give it another try at shutting it up.

Log:
  Set PORTSCOUT=ignore:1.

Yet another attempt at shutting portscout up. This time use the right syntax.
Thanks to zi@ for pointing it out.
