I suggest put this port into astro category. wen
The major function of Yt is visualizing data: "an open-source, permissively-licensed python package for analyzing and visualizing volumetric data" http://yt-project.org/ The domains include astrophysics, seismology, nuclear engineering, molecular dynamics, and oceanography. It has been for astrophysics only, but it evolved and branched into the other areas. So the only unifying basis now is math in my understanding.
(In reply to Yuri Victorovich from comment #3) Now I suggest change the COMMENT to "python package for analyzing and visualizing volumetric data" :) wen

A commit references this bug: Author: wen Date: Tue Dec 27 06:35:22 UTC 2016 New revision: 429583 URL: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/ports/429583 Log: yt supports structured, variable-resolution meshes, unstructured meshes, and discrete or sampled data such as particles. Focused on driving physically-meaningful inquiry, yt has been applied in domains such as astrophysics, seismology, nuclear engineering, molecular dynamics, and oceanography. Wen, Somehow the file math/py-yt/files/patch-yt_utilities_lib_platform__dep.h hasn't been committed, and now builds are failing for missing alloca.h file. Yuri
