I suggest put this port into astro category.

The major function of Yt is visualizing data: "an open-source, permissively-licensed python package for analyzing and visualizing volumetric data" http://yt-project.org/

The domains include astrophysics, seismology, nuclear engineering, molecular dynamics, and oceanography.

It has been for astrophysics only, but it evolved and branched into the other areas. So the only unifying basis now is math in my understanding.

(In reply to Yuri Victorovich from comment #3)
Now I suggest change the COMMENT to "python package for analyzing and visualizing volumetric data" :)

Wen,

Somehow the file math/py-yt/files/patch-yt_utilities_lib_platform__dep.h hasn't been committed, and now builds are failing for missing alloca.h file.
