Description Ivan 2019-01-20 11:18:52 UTC
With PIM disabled KDE 5.12 doesn't pull akonadi (and mysql-server). Now it pulls through x11/kf5-frameworks -> kf5-purpose -> kaccounts-integration -> akonadi
Bare akonadi is unoperational and running mysql-server locally is a little bit stupid from my point of view.

Can we move kf5-purpose to PIM group?

That has porbably more to do with the update to Applications 18.12.1 where I added purpose as dependency to okular in r489893.

We can make it optional there...

I'll add PURPOSE options to graphics/okular and x11-toolkits/plasma5-kde-plasma-addons
Comment 3 Ivan 2019-01-20 13:52:29 UTC
Hmm, I think you are right, Port tree I'm migrating from doesn't include 18.12.1 update as well.

Well, if kf5-purpose is optional, new option is a good choose, PIM stuff is so a huge beast. =/

I was affected by the same issue with the new quarterly update. Wouldn't be better to have the option as OFF by default?
Comment 8 Adriaan de Groot freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2019-04-05 15:00:12 UTC
The default options need to be such that installing x11/kde5 gives you a good (and complete) KDE experience: that is, KDE Frameworks, KDE Plasma, and KDE Applications. If you are interested in an Akonadi-less experience, then you'll need to set the options yourself.
Comment 9 Alex Dupre freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2019-04-07 09:40:12 UTC
Fine, I think we need to update the default MySQL version in the ports tree then, the last update was done 4 years ago by me.
