Can you put the mail announce instead of the gitlab release, it doesn't contain anything useful while the mail (https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2022-November/042499.html) do.
A commit in branch main references this bug: URL: https://cgit.FreeBSD.org/ports/commit/?id=51e8603ed82e84629096f5da99a41af84e6828fd commit 51e8603ed82e84629096f5da99a41af84e6828fd Author: Jan Beich <jbeich@FreeBSD.org> AuthorDate: 2022-11-14 11:27:21 +0000 Commit: Jan Beich <jbeich@FreeBSD.org> CommitDate: 2022-11-14 15:49:23 +0000 graphics/wayland-protocols: update to 1.29 Changes: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2022-November/042499.html PR: 267759 Reported by: GitLab (notify releases) Approved by: manu graphics/wayland-protocols/Makefile | 2 +- graphics/wayland-protocols/distinfo | 6 +++--- 2 files changed, 4 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-)
The announce mail wasn't available in the archive at the time 1.29 was released. GitLab (like GitHub) notifies subscribers about releases, not just random new tags. Why upstream doesn't annotate releases is a bug in their workflow, something that wasn't needed in pre-GitLab days.
(In reply to Jan Beich from comment #3) Let's just wait for the mail so we put something useful when the port is updated (the mail came 8 minutes after the gitlab mail).
I'm not subscribed to wayland-devel@ list (not interested in discussions), so only check the archive on demand (when filing a bug and before landing). Compared to release link that can be annotated/edited later the maillist archive link is immutable and cannot be known in advance (short of guessing).
