Description Charles Sprickman 2002-06-29 03:30:01 UTC
There are ports for both the silc chat client and server. The client was recently updated to 0.9.2 while the server remains at 0.7.9.

If you build and install both, they do not work together because they are too far out of sync. Either the server should be upgraded or the client downgraded to the previous version.

Fix:

Either upgrade the server to the current version or pull the client back to an older version so that they can talk to each other.
How-To-Repeat: Install and configure silc-client and silc-server. Attempt to connect to your server. You will get an error message:

[22:27] *** You are running an incompatible client version (it may be too old or too new)
[22:27] *** Server closed connection: (83) erver closed connection: Key exchange failed
[22:27] *** Connection lost to dellbsd.inch.com
