Description Christian Lackas 2004-08-11 19:00:42 UTC
XVideo support does not work after upgrade to XFree86 4.4 (did work for 4.3).
Tried it with mplayer, xine and kaffeine.

Fix:

Installing XFree86 4.3 again?
How-To-Repeat:
	mplayer -vo xv any.mpeg
X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)

	kaffeine any.mpeg
X Error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) 11
		Major opcode: 141
		Minor opcode: 19
		Resource id: 0x0
		kaffeine: PostFilter: GetConfig tvtime:method=LinearBlend,enabled=1,pulldown=none,framerate_mode=half_top,judder_correction=0,use_progressive_frame_flag=1,chroma_filter=0,cheap_mode=1

Disabling DRI didn't work for me, and I don't have any other programs (expect KDE) running.

Could you try dropping the attached patch from Freedesktop bugzilla to
x11-servers/XFree86-4-Server/files directory and reinstall XFree86-Server
port.

I just tried it[1], but XVideo still does not work (same error messages
as before).

But thanks for your suggestion.

[1] moved patch to files directory, recompiled port, restartet XServer

Reopen PR. Originator reports that proposed patch does not solve the problem.

Anyone working on upgrading this port to 6.8? According to
http://freedesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=474, the problems were
fixed in 6.8.

While PRs for ports maintained by x11@FreeBSD.org have for some time been
assigned to 'x11', this creates duplicate reminder email postings to the
mailing lists. The canonical form should now be 'freebsd-x11'.

Is this problem still present on newer X11 (XFree86 4.5 or Xorg 6.8.2)?

I am now using the Xorg version 6.8.2, so I cannot say if the problem
still persists with XFree86.

Since problem does not occur with Xorg 6.8.2 for submitter and I can't
reproduce it under XFree86 either, close this PR.
Thanks for reporting back!
