I am now getting back into ports, and I would like to regain my old port if possible.

Well, as you noticed in your patch, it currently has a maintainer, so
my view would be to let the new person see how they do with it.  (I do
not see any maintainer-timeouts.)

Sure - I've probably had more headaches with mono on -current than it
is worth. The best way is to submit a PR and I will approve, I guess?
