Description Maurice Castro 2012-03-14 00:00:10 UTC
The pwgen-1.15 port no longer has sources available on the web
and hence cannot be built. This port is used in davical and
I am trying to determine if the pwgen port has been retired.

Fix:

One of the following:
		1. provide repository
		2. withdraw port
		3. update port to new repository
I can provide a copy of the sources if required.

	Many Thanks

It looks like a newer version is available on sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pwgen/

I've sent a note to the current maintainer.

It looks like sysutils/pwgen2 already exists for version 2.06.

Is there any valid reason to keep the old version around?

I think that might be the GPL'd version called pwgen2 in the ports =
collection.

The short answer is that as far as I can tell they are actually =
different programs ... certainly very different structurally ... I don't =
believe that they are simply 2 versions of the same program. That said =
the options for pwgen2 appear to overlap with pwgen so pwgen2 is a =
potential drop in replacement.=20

The cost of keeping the code is only finding a hosting location for the =
source file ... the cost of disappearing pwgen is changing any port that =
depends on it. I have not worked out the number of ports that use pwgen.
