I am somewhat confused about kde4 <-> kf5 interoperability. Will the utility still work without issues for kde4 users? About the maintainership - yes, please feel free to take the port. It seems that I am a rather poor maintainer as I typically don't update a port until I run into some big issue with it :-)

I'm using it with a regular KDE4 desktop from the ports tree without any problems. It doesn't depend on the Plasma 5 desktop, just KF5 (think of kdelibs4 split up into many dozens of small libraries).
