If I can share an advice, you should try your change in poudriere instead only have a look to changelog.

Actually I'm not using it anymore, as the port that required it was deleted a few years ago. Anyway I do local build in synth to check port correctness (including pkg-plist changes if any) before submitting patches.

It's just the port became prerequisite for a few dozen other ports already. Proper testing would require installing and using all of them. So comes the message.
