PCGen is a Java-based RPG character generator and maintenance program that works on all platforms (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, BSD, etc). It currently is aimed at supporting as many rpgs as humanly possible. Currently our focus is on OGL games (OGL = the Open Gaming License crafted by Wizards of the Coast). All datafiles are ASCII so they can be modified by users, and are available through the pcgendm project. An XML conversion is underway. WWW: http://pcgen.sourceforge.net Notes from the maintainer: - This port could be located in games/pcgen instead... you decide - I know that PCGen requires Java 1.3+ but I enforced the use of 1.4. This is because the PCGen team is currently trying to switch to 1.4 only. - 5.4.0 is not the latest (stable) release of PCGen. There's a patch (5.4.1) but I prefered to have a "clean" port to start with and the PCGen dev team is updating the stable release quite often. - The port could become a meta-port, with the following "child" ports: - Core (and possibly also a Core-Devel child port as the project is quite active) - Data: the various RPG material from PCGen team - 3rd Party Data: the various RPG material from other sources - Docs - Extra libs: currently skin.zip (a L&F lib) and pdf.zip (to produce PDF character sheets)
Just a quick fix: Now the port uses the new PORTDOCS macro in Makefile to reduce the size of pkg-plist. Herve
