Is it okay to install the application pixmaps into share/gnome/mlview instead
of share/gnome/pixmaps/mlview?
Are there any (Gnome or FreeBSD) guidelines on that?

As a bonus I updated your port to new libtool. 

For pixmap location, I think we can live with existing state. ;)
