Fix: delete that description. How-To-Repeat: execute /stand/sysinstall, choose configure, choose time zone, select a region to ASIA, then choose Japan. Then there are two items 1 most locations 2 south Ryukyu Islands Currently, Japan has only one time zone. Maybe someone is misunderstanding that some southern islands of Japan belongs to another time zone, but it is incorrect
State Changed From-To: open->analyzed This very topic has jsut come oup in the tz mailing-list. When a resolution comes, I'll see about integrating the latest database. (We're somewhat out-of-date and need to do that anyway.)
Responsible Changed From-To: freebsd-bugs->wollman I've always done this.
Now this problem is fixed in tzdata1999b. We may need to import this into 4.0-current and 3.0-stable branches. -- hideyuki
State Changed From-To: analyzed->suspended Japanese timezone data updated in tzdata1999b. Awaiting merge for stable.
I would like this to be merged into stable before 3.1-RELEASE. Is it possible? -- hideyuki

Possible, yes, but you'll have to find some other committer actually test it and do the merge. I'm tapped out for time right now. -GAWollman -- Garrett A. Responsible Changed From-To: wollman->freebsd-bugs This vendor branch MFC is up for grabs to the brave. :-)
State Changed From-To: suspended->closed This should be fixed in recent versions of FreeBSD - we now have a more recent tzdata database. Thanks!
