Description Brennan Vincent 2014-04-29 04:10:00 UTC
The manual page states that "``Big Five'' is the de facto standard for encoding Traditional Chinese text."

However, nowadays Unicode encodings like UTF-8 are often used, so it is incorrect to state that Big5 is the de-facto standard.

The first Taiwanese website I chose at random is encoded in UTF-8: www.ltn.com.tw

Fix:

Change the text "the de facto standard for encoding" to "a standard for encoding".
How-To-Repeat: man 5 big5

I=92m not sure how authoritative this site is, but it seems to back up =
my claim that UTF-8 is commonly used:

Big5 is still used by some old services that cannot be easily converted, but most new things use UTF-8.
