I was not party to the offline discussion. Why was this bug closed without applying the patch I submitted that was approved by the maintainer?

The offline discussion was about me taking the PR and committing the patch.

I believe r235728 implements your requested change (with the addition of PORTREVISION=1 since it had already been upgraded to 4.4.9). Are you finding otherwise?
