Description Leah Rowe 2023-02-14 11:43:11 UTC
Hi,

I'd like my company to be listed on this page, if that's OK? This page:

https://www.freebsd.org/commercial/hardware/

Here is my company:

https://minifree.org/

I sell laptops by default with Debian Linux, but I gave customers the option to choose another distro, or specifically FreeBSD/OpenBSD.

I do FreeBSD installs quite often, and I'd love to do more :)

I've been doing Linux stuff for years but I've always done BSD aswell, on request, and in the last few months I've been advertising it much more openly.

When FreeBSD is requested, I then ask the customer basic questions like: what desktop environment and other software do you want, do you want a firewall configured, what sort of network will you plug it into, that sort of thing. Every install is different, because everyone has different needs.

The description for the page, to be brief, should be:

Minifree Ltd provides serviced ThinkPads with Libreboot, which is free and opensource boot firmware based on coreboot that replaces proprietary BIOS/UEFI firmware. Customers can request installation of FreeBSD, in whichever configuration they need, and it will be provided with full disk encryption. The combination of coreboot results in a highly robust, secure laptop. Minifree has been in business since 2014, and ships worldwide.

PS:

I'm also the founder of the Libreboot project, which provides ease to use boot firmware based on coreboot, replacing proprietary vendor firmware. These FreeBSD laptops come with Libreboot pre-installed, based on the guidance mentioned here:
