Description Chris 2002-02-01 18:30:00 UTC
After installing Licq, Installed licq-qt-gui-1.0.3.. when you attempt to run it, it puts a licq process in the background, but you get NO errors, and no gui. you get absolutely NOTHING. (have checked the config file to make sure the right plugin was selected)

How-To-Repeat: Install Licq, Install licq-qt-gui, run licq
Comment 1 Chris 2002-02-01 22:29:55 UTC
I was in a rush and typo'd twice.

That is suppost to be licq-qt-gui-1.0.4

my mistake, just caught it.

thanks,

Chris.

I can't reproduce your problem.
Did you install by ports or by packages?

kind regards Dirk

FWIW, I'm having the same problem.

I'm running FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE from about Jan 31 01:00 GMT.

I built it from ports. Running it with console plugin works, but trying
qt-gui plugin made it sucks CPU in the background without opening any windows.

Trying to run gdb on it resulted in the following backtrace:

(gdb) where
#0  0x281f1555 in _thread_sigframe_restore () from /usr/lib/libc_r.so.4
#1  0x281f1354 in _thread_sig_wrapper () from /usr/lib/libc_r.so.4

#17 0x281b9f93 in _thread_start () from /usr/lib/libc_r.so.4
#18 0x0 in ?? ()

Attempting to exit gdb then resulted in this:
(gdb) q
The program is running. Quit anyway (and detach it)? (y or n) y
Detaching from program: /usr/local/bin/licq, process 84402, thread 1
ptrace: No such process.

I have to kill gdb from another session. Licq that's running in the
background wouldn't die with SIGTERMs I had to send SIGKILL to kill it.

Cheers,
Anto.

What Xserver do you run?

I have no problems with XFree3.3.6
do you see any differences in on the the depended ports?

/usr/ports/devel/autoconf213	->	autoconf213-2.13.000227_1
/usr/ports/devel/automake14	->	automake14-1.4.5
/usr/ports/devel/gettext	->	gettext-0.10.35_1
/usr/ports/devel/gmake		->	gmake-3.79.1
/usr/ports/devel/libtool	->	libtool-1.3.4_2
/usr/ports/devel/m4		->	m4-1.4_1
/usr/ports/devel/objprelink	->	objprelink-1.0_1
/usr/ports/graphics/Mesa3	->	Mesa-3.4.2_2
/usr/ports/graphics/jpeg	->	jpeg-6b_1
/usr/ports/graphics/lcms	->	lcms-1.08
/usr/ports/graphics/libmng	->	libmng-1.0.3
/usr/ports/graphics/png		->	png-1.2.1
/usr/ports/net/licq		->	licq-base-1.0.4
/usr/ports/x11-toolkits/qt23	->	qt-2.3.1_1
/usr/ports/x11/XFree86		->	XFree86-3.3.6_10

$ gcc --version
2.95.3

>  #3  0x281f005e in _thread_sig_handler () from /usr/lib/libc_r.so.4

>  #5  0x288de9f9 in _XimCreateDefaultTree () from /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6

The problem might be an exception in "_XimCreateDefaultTree"

kind regards Dirk

I'm running XFree86 4.1.0. That could be the problem..

Here's the list of dependents:

 /usr/ports/devel/autoconf213   ->      autoconf213-2.13.000227_1
 /usr/ports/devel/automake14    ->      automake14-1.4.5
 /usr/ports/devel/gettext       ->      gettext-0.10.35_1
 /usr/ports/devel/gmake         ->      gmake-3.79.1
 /usr/ports/devel/libtool       ->      libtool-1.3.4_2
 /usr/ports/devel/m4            ->      m4-1.4_1
 /usr/ports/devel/objprelink    ->      objprelink-1.0_1
 /usr/ports/graphics/Mesa3      ->      Mesa-3.4.2_2
 /usr/ports/graphics/jpeg       ->      jpeg-6b_1
 /usr/ports/graphics/lcms       ->      lcms-1.08
 /usr/ports/graphics/libmng     ->      libmng-1.0.3
 /usr/ports/graphics/png                ->      png-1.2.1
 /usr/ports/net/licq            ->      licq-base-1.0.4
 /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/qt23   ->      qt-2.3.1_1
 /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4-libraries -> XFree86-libraries-4.1.0_1
 /usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4         ->      XFree86-4.1.0_10 (needs updating)

 $ gcc --version
2.95.3

I do have XFree86-aoutlibs-3.3.6.9 installed because Netscape Communicator
needs it. The package dependency lines in my /var/db/pkg for licq-qt-gui list
XFree86-libraries-4.1.0_1 instead of XFree86-4.1.0_*.

Cheers,
Anto.

Thanks for the workaround.

Broken is removed, Package will display the message.

To run this licq with qt and Xfree86 4.x.x
you must start it with "licq -- -noxim"

problems are a qt/XFree issue.
