When trying to install FreeBSD with a cd-rom attached by USB the system comes into a continuous loop:

Afther changing the USB CD/DVD drive for a ata ide drive the problem 
resolved. So it seems like the problem had to do with the USB support. 
The drive I was using was a Samsung SE-S164
