Bug 106264

Summary: Firefox & Linux Firefox - Undefined symbol "gethostbyname_r"
Product: Ports & Packages Reporter: m0rf <m0rf>
Component: Individual Port(s)Assignee: Pav Lucistnik <pav>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description m0rf 2006-12-03 15:40:04 UTC
Installing firefox and linux-firefox from packages make native firefox unable
to run. Firefox start end with this message:
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/libplds4.so.1: Undefined symbol "gethostbyname_r"

libplds4.so.1 is part of linux-firefox (see pkg-plist), and i supose that is
also part of firefox, and when i'm installing linux-firefox is overwritten.

Fix:

Set ports www/firefox and www/linux-firefox like a conflict ports, or fix libraries overwritting problem.
How-To-Repeat: Install www/firefox and then www/linux-firefox from packages, try run firefox (linux-firefox running as well).

What makes you believe libplds.so.1 was installed by linux-firefox port? I
checked the complete history of linux-firefox and I don't see that file ever
being installed.
