State Changed From-To: open->feedback According to the roadmap, FreeBSD 7.0 will happen before 6.3. So the man page is most probably correct. I suggest dropping this issue, what do you think? gzip(1) says at HISTORY: This implementation of gzip was ported based on the NetBSD gzip 20060927, and first appeared in FreeBSD 7.0. however, this is 6.2-STABLE, and if there ever will be 6.3-RELEASE it won't be appropriate. i'd suggest changing the first appearance version according to this Fix: i'd suggest changing the first appearance version according to this How-To-Repeat: man gzip
