Description Esar Ade 2007-10-06 16:40:03 UTC
FreeBSD/amd64 - Fails to boot on HP Pavilion dv9030ea

The boot loader(?) would continuously dump these hex characters on the screen causing it to scroll at an unreadable rate.

How-To-Repeat: boot from FreeBSD/amd64 boot cd on pavilion dv9000 laptop

I have an HP Pavillion dv9000 (dv9420us). I have a similar experience,
but I've also found a work-around.

If, when the the BIOS Splash screen is just about to disappear, one
starts pressing <spacebar>, then the boot slice prompt comes up. Press
<enter> and the laptop boots normally. It's a big hassle, but it works.

Is this still a problem on modern FreeBSD versions?

Submitter reports that 7.0 worked fine.
