I read a few typos in the handbook (French translation).
And also a lacking negation (the original us has "not", which the French version translated as an affirmation).

This passage might be misleading, by the way:

This is what i386 means. Note that even if you are not running FreeBSD on an Intel 386 CPU, this is going to be i386. It is not the type of your processor, but the processor architecture that is shown here.
:UNQUOTE:

"Intel" should be quoted, or whatever, to accentuate that we're talking of Intel vs. AMD, for instance; and not Intel vs. PPC or whatever.
Or rewrite the sentence: "note that if you are running FreeBSD on an i386 CPU, even if not an Intel, this is going to be i386", or something of the kind.

Fix: See attached patch (with several corrections, Remko ;-) to apply to:
/usr/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/basics/chapter.sgml

It's not really the objective of the footnote.  The text is about the
fact that even you are not using a 386 CPU (for example a 486 or a
Pentium) you are still using an i386 architecture.
