Ross, the fwe (4) interface is the firewire interface. Your Broadcom is most likely currently not supported by any of the available drivers under FreeBSD. You should take a look at ndisgen. To get the wireless working on the dv8000 systems, you need to download the Windows XP driver: 4.40.19.0. - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33008.exe extract the files using archivers/cabextract, then use ndisgen to build the ndis driver for your wireless adapter.
