Using a Cisco systems 21-AG cardus using ath 5212 driver if the first command you send to the card is ifconfig ath0 authmode shared system freezes and the only way to regain control is to power down.

ifconfig ath0 scan does not produce results unless already attached as a station, you cannot scan unless authenticated.

There's been a lot of churn in the wireless code since then. Likewise in the cardbus code, though much less.
If this is still an issue, please open a new bug and cc me.
