Responsible Changed From-To: freebsd-amd64->freebsd-bugs probably not amd64-specific. State Changed From-To: open->feedback To submitter: could you please try again with RC1, which should be available within a day or so? Thanks! Responsible Changed From-To: freebsd-bugs->gavin Track Problem no longer occurs for 7.2 RC1 as long as one of the primary mirrors is selected. The country sites do not have RC1 yet. Tested for both amd64 and i386. I am having this issue with 8.0-RELEASE amd64 CD1 I tried the install multiple times. I tried the main FTP server, ftp4, and ftp4.usa.openbsd.org, but all timed out. It appears to be unable to resolve the name, as if it is not using the DNS settings I gave it. I confirmed I have network connectivity to the machine from a different subnet, so IP and gateway are OK. Also moved outside the firewall just to test that (shouldn't matter for DNS resolution) but it always just times out on name resolution. All other settings checked as well... I even did an ftp install of OpenBSD just to make sure all network hardware was OK. State Changed From-To: feedback->closed Submitter reported (some time ago) that this was resolved. This actually is an issue. Both 7.1 and 7.2 cannot be installed via boot-only from the mirrors. This occurs for 64-bit installations. Please advise on whether to reopen this issue or open a new one. State Changed From-To: closed->open Two more reports that this is still an issue I just experienced the very same problem trying to install from FreeBSD-8.2-BETA1-amd64-bootonly.iso. After entering the FTP installation options, the system would respond with "cannot resolve hostname ftp.at.freebsd.org". I tried both DHCP and static IP - with the same result. The system I tried to install is an HP DL360 G7. I ended up installing from FreeBSD-8.1-RELEASE-amd64-bootonly.iso, which worked without any problems. So, this bug still seems to exist ... :-( -- >> Ferdinand Goldmann >> Johannes Kepler University Linz - Server Systems/Information Management >> Mail: Ferdinand.Goldmann@jku.at >> Phone: 00437024689398 Mobile: 0043664602468133 sysinstall has been replaced by bsdinstall in 9.0-RELEASE and this release has been EOL for some time.
