when this machine boots battery powered it systematically locks after the following line:

p4tcc1: <CPU Frequency Thermal Control> on cpu1

the boot on AC works without any problem

Fix: 

plug in the adapter :)  (not always possible for a netbook...)
How-To-Repeat: boot the machine whith AC adapter disconnected

I must add that disabling ACPI before boot resolves the problem, so it
seems to be related to ACPI.
