Bug 13892

Summary: Kern.flp does not boot on Compaq Presario 5340
Product: Base System Reporter: aryeh <aryeh>
Component: i386Assignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description aryeh 1999-09-22 09:40:00 UTC
Neither the kern.flp from 3.2 or 3.3 will boot at all the boot.flp from
2.2.8 will start to load the kernel then die befor the segment sizes are
shown.

I saw the note on device probing on a compaq and that does not seem
the prob with 3.X but might be with 2.2.8.

How-To-Repeat: Try any stable and/or current distrubtion installation floppies

What does "will not boot at all" mean? You stick the floppy in the drive
and the machine won't power on? :-)

Please describe exactly what you see.

Ciao,
Sheldon.

As I told seldon it is does not appear to be a BIOS issue. This was
verified via:

1) Booted fine off a DOS floppy
2) Partial boot on a 2.2.8 boot.flp
