Bug 141227

Summary: Handbook/sysinstall documentation about distributions including X out of date
Product: Documentation Reporter: Nicky Chorley <nick.chorley>
Component: Books & ArticlesAssignee: Marc Fonvieille <blackend>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Nicky Chorley 2009-12-06 17:30:05 UTC
In section 2.7.1 of the handbook (Select the Distribution Set), the sentence

If a graphical user interface is desired then a distribution set that is preceded by an X should be chosen.

is present. This is out of date, because there are no longer any distribution sets that are preceded by an X.

In addition to the information in the handbook, there is a related problem in the documentation found in sysinstall for FreeBSD 8.0 about the distribution sets. The text

An "X-" prefixed before a distribution set means that the Xorg base
distribution, libraries, manual pages, servers and a set of default
fonts will be selected in addition to the set itself..

is also out of date

How-To-Repeat: For the problem in sysinstall, the procedure to find the incorrect text is:

Run sysinstall
Choose Standard
Proceed as normal until "Choose Distributions"
Press F1 to view the information

The Handbook has been fixed. For sysinstall(8) the whole documentation
needs to be updated and will require us more time.
