Description Ronny Forberger 2010-01-09 20:00:14 UTC
Hi,

since an upgrade of port www/apache22 to version 2.2.13 the httpd won't launch anymore.

It is ssl related, perhaps when building against a wrong openssl version.

The error_log says: [error] Unable to initialize TLS servername extension callback (incompatible OpenSSL version?)

My installed openssl version, and which version apache22 is built against, is openssl-0.9.8k_5 installed from the freebsd8 binary packages.

I can't build openssl-0.9.8k_5 from ports, since it says the port is broken due to a missing patchset.

Can you help me?

Thanks,
Ronny

How-To-Repeat: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache22 start

I'm not sure what your issue is, but thousands of people build and start
this daily. I'm sure its local setup.

If you are willing to take this discussion to apache@ list, I might be
able to help you there.

Also, your apache port version is out of date.

I see a "local setup issue (see apache@ list)" note. I'm encountering
the same problem a year after this on a freshly built 8.1 installation
and Google searches point to this PR thread, but I haven't found the
"see apache@ list" thread pgollucci referred to a year ago anywhere in
my searches. Perhaps a pointer (URL?) with more details could be
appended to this closed issue so future searchers can find the "local
setup issue" more easily/quickly?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Aaron out.
