Bug 14373

Summary: Error while booting from floppy disk
Product: Base System Reporter: Klaus-Juergen Wolf <kjwolf>
Component: i386Assignee: freebsd-bugs (Nobody) <bugs>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 3.3-RELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Klaus-Juergen Wolf 1999-10-17 19:40:01 UTC
While booting from the boot floppies created with "make release" from
the CVS Repository, either with 3.3-RELEASE and 3.3-STABLE
(SNAP-19991016), the first boot disk stops with the error messages:

zf_read: fill error
elf_loadexec: archsw.readin failed

I've never tried a re-installation with distribution code made from the
CVS Repository before, therefore there might be a problem with my
current software installation in the process of creating the floppy
images.

Fix:

unknown
How-To-Repeat:
As described.

Are you sure you used the right image for the boot floppy? There is a
2.something megabyte file as well that is intended for LS120 (?)
disks.

IIRC I once had a similar (the same?) error when I 'dd'ed the wrong
image file from the CD onto the floppy.

Looks like it was a bad image - either the wrong one, or a corrupted
one.
