A patch based on your description was committed. The screenshot
in that section needs updating as well, so leave it in this state
until that has been fixed, too.

Thanks to blackend@, the screenshots in this section are now
showing the (much shorter) list of devices in current sysinstall.
PR closed, thanks for reporting it.
Comment 7 Joe 2010-08-11 01:19:02 UTC
I just checked the online version of the handbook and the screen shot is
still in error.
It still contains text talking about "slip" devices.

Sorry, I was a little bit behind on emails, hence the long response time.
You are correct, Slip is still in the screenshot. I do not know whether
this can be fixed solely by us doc folks (it has to be removed in
sysinstall first, before we can take a new screenshot), but I'm going to
investigate the issue.
Meanwhile, I re-open this PR and set its status to analyzed until we've
found a fix.

If you talk about this screenshot
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/install/ed0-conf.png,
it's what your get if you install a FreeBSD 8.1-RELEASE which is the
subject of the Handbook (not -CURRENT or any other -STABLE since persons
using images of these versions should know enough about FreeBSD do deal
with what is written that chapter). So I think we should close this PR
(if it's about this screenshot).
