Bug 146009

Summary: Update URL for BRU software on Commercial Vendors page
Product: Documentation Reporter: Stephen Fisher <steve>

Description Stephen Fisher 2010-04-24 08:50:01 UTC
The URL for the BRU backup software listed under "Enhanced Software Technologies" is out-of-date. BRU seems to have been moved over to a new company called TOLIS Group at http://www.tolisgroup.com/ at some point over the years. The old domain name, estinc.com, now brings up a squatter page.

One caveat though: It's hard to find the fact that they support FreeBSD at all on their web-site. I don't know to what extent they do these days like they did back in the 90s. Maybe that link should be removed entirely.

Hm,

according to
http://www.tolisgroup.com/products/software/bruserver/supportedclients.html
they have/had FreeBSD support but the last version mentioned is FreeBSD
6. No information about support for current versions.

I will try to contact them about that. If I do not get any response
from them, I will remove the entry completely after 2 weeks.

I got into contact with the company and they confirmed that they still
support FreeBSD:

"... BRU fully supports versions 4.2 through 8.1 both as a standalone
backup tool and as a client to the enterprise-level BRU Server product.
We offer both 32bit and 64bit Intel builds and can offer PPC, Alpha,
Itanium 2, and SPARC versions if customers require. ..."

I will update the entry in the "Commercial support section" of our
website accordingly.
