Description zsokolsk 1999-10-30 02:40:01 UTC
When i try to use X windows, i get an arp error that says 127.0.0.1 is not on the local network. I tried to re-install freebsd from the installation cd thinking that would solve the problem, and when i did during the installation it said "Couldn't extract the following distributions. This may be because they were not available on the installation media you've chosen: Local" i would guess this is the source of the problem, so we tried to install that distribution set off of an ftp server which gave us the exact same error. (ftp3.freebsd.org)
this problem interferes greatly with network operations, and prevents us from useing X windows.

How-To-Repeat: /stand/sysinstall configure distributions local then select a media. the cd and ftp options produced the error in the full description section.

The distribution "local" has nothing to do with the "local network".
