Summary: [boot] Run levels crash on boot up for dv7-1130US HP Laptop.
Product: Base System Reporter: eb30750
Component: amd64Assignee: freebsd-amd64 (Nobody) <amd64>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description eb30750 2010-06-26 00:40:03 UTC
The run levels 2 and 3 crash when I select them from the BSD boot selection screen. Run levels 1 and 4 work fine. The boot process stops at: Time counters tick every 1.000 sec.

My hardware is an HP dv7-1130US laptop with an AMD Turion X2-70 cpu with ATI Radeon Graphics.

Fix:

Unknown
How-To-Repeat: Select run level 2 or 3 before count time on boot select screens reaches zero.

I am going to close this PR.
Sorry if I'll sound impolite, but either I don't understand what run levels mean
in FreeBSD context, or you can't read the words next to the numbers in FreeBSD
boot menu :-)

From-To: open->closed

Booting FreeBSD with ACPI disabled, using either "ACPI Disabled"
or so called "Safe Mode" loader menu choices, should not be
attempted on modern hardware unless you really know what you do
or try to troubleshoot a problem.
