Booted NanoBSD as Disk from USB-Stick. 
Boot/Start normal

try different usb stick with USB 1.1, USB 2.Chipset's/Motherboard's, (VIA-Mini ITX USB 2.0)Inter Chipsatz 810 and Chipsatz SiS 930 or 936 (Desknote A910) with USB 1.1

different nanobsd.sh, orginal nanobsd.sh from source Freebsd and change with Glabel
NANO_GLABEL_SYS/DATA/CFG

creation of the images is without error
also used this file

for i386 System or Disk

all create disk the same problem

There is a root wait variable you can set, which gives the USB stick some time 
to enumerate. Will probably solve your issue. Search the mailing lists for 
existing solution.
