varnish 3.0.0 was released.

Fix: 

I'd suggest a repo-copy from varnish to varnish3 or something then apply the change:

it compiles and the package builds cleanly it seems.  Running you'll have to figure out;)

One new files/patch-* file at least I needed w/o pkgconfig.
