I am facing the same issues whenever I try to install FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE from an external USB DRIVE. The only way for to boot is to specify cd9660:/dev/iso9660/FREEBSD_INSTALL FYI, I did notice this problem with 9.0 but I have tested mounting 9.1-RELEASE isos over supermicro IPMI and it works fine. Please let me know if I can provide more information about this. -- Rob Lampe Tranquil Hosting / RootBSD www.tqhosting.com www.rootbsd.net On Fri, Mar 1, 2013 at 6:21 PM, Rob Lampe <rlampe@tqhosting.com> wrote: > FYI, I did notice this problem with 9.0 but I have tested mounting > 9.1-RELEASE isos over supermicro IPMI and it works fine. > > Please let me know if I can provide more information about this. > > -- > Rob Lampe > Tranquil Hosting / RootBSD > www.tqhosting.com > www.rootbsd.net Hi Rob, It appears that the problem has been solved also for me. Thanks -- George Kontostanos --- http://www.aisecure.net I can confirm this still is an issue with 10.0-RELEASE isos (and with 9.2-RELEASE). The workaround is to wait, and wait until the virtual CD is detected, and then enter this (as mentioned previously): cd9660:/dev/iso9660/FREEBSD_INSTALL Do not press enter to get an empty prompt, because this will reset the machine. This is mentioned on the console, but this BOFH hasn't very good memory ;-) It isn't a big problem, because of the workaround, but it took me while before I found out about the workaround. For bugs matching the following conditions: - Status == In Progress - Assignee == "bugs@FreeBSD.org" - Last Modified Year <= 2017 Do - Set Status to "Open" ^Triage: with all the changes since FreeBSD 9.0-RC1, this PR is surely OBE. |
