Description Matthieu Volat 2012-01-14 07:40:10 UTC
Using either the USB memstick or bootonly CDROM image, loading the installation system fails with :

usb_alloc_device: set address 2 failed (USB_ERR_TIMEOUT, ignored)
usbd_req_re_enumerate: addr=2, set address failed! (USB_ERR_TIMEOUT, ignored)
usbd_req_re_enumerate: addr=2, set address failed! (USB_ERR_TIMEOUT, ignored)
ugen1.2: <Unknown> at usbus1 (disconnected)
uhub_reattach_port: could not allocate new device
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 60 seconds for xpt_config
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 120 seconds for xpt_config

After what the root filesystem cannot be mount.

* Disabling the firewire chipset in the BIOS did not help.
* System works with FreeBSD 8.2 (with or without firewire chipset enabled)

I have joined the dmesg log from my 8.2 installation to describe the setup (Asus P5NE SLI + Core 2 6320 + 2Go ram).

Interrestingly, soft reset cannot reboot in 8.2 after this failure (same error), I have to stop the machine and restart it with power button.

Fix: --

Patch attached with submission follows:
How-To-Repeat: Booting the installation media (I suppose an installed version would have the same problem) on my setup.

I also tried to disable USB in the BIOS, with no avail.
