Bug 16584

Summary: sysinstall(8): Hostname field too small during install (dhcp)
Product: Base System Reporter: dirkx
Component: binAssignee: Mark Linimon <linimon>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description dirkx 2000-02-08 16:20:01 UTC
When using dhcp (or in general) if the host name
is long (say 15 char's or more) which is rather
common, the Hostname: and Domain: fields in the
ifconfig display during install are initially
	empty.

Only when you type tab do they reveal their
contents. If you actually start entering
info though - you screw up the settings in
a way which is not visible.

How-To-Repeat:

take a boot floppy, use DHCP and assign the name

		vaio.ispra.webweaving.org

to it. Say YES to dhcp and see what happens to the fields. Then
instead of doing TAB enter a value in the empty looking fields
	and then continue the install

This is believed to be fixed on recent versions of FreeBSD (such as 6.2).
Can the submitter confirm this?
