Description cody chandler 2012-03-30 16:50:12 UTC
The way the writing is in the hand book. Please note my reading skills are not as good as most. I have dislexia and tend to read something and mix it up or not comprehend it until I do read something several times. I read the HandBook 4 times and reinstalled and deleted /usr/ports 8 times testing to see what the difference was with cvsup and portsnap.

Fix:

Could
there be a line added to 5.5 saying there are different steps to fetching and installing. Point out that cvsup 5.5.1 "Make sure /usr/ports is empty before you run csup for the first time! If you already have the Ports Collection present, obtained from another source, csup will not prune removed patch files." That line is what confused me to think I wasted time using ports from the DVD. When I only needed portsnap to update to stable. Thank you!

Following the 'CVSup Method' in the Handbook is documentation concerning
using portsnap to keep your Ports tree up-to-date.

In the PR, it is mentioned that the originator "only needed to use portsnap."

As both CVSup/csup and Portsnap are documented, I don't see how it can be made
more clear that one or the other is used.

However, if a suggestion is made on what the text should state to make this
differentiation more clear, I will be happy to reopen this PR.
