Does it happen more frequently when you move the mouse around? Looks
like a mouse protocol mismatch to me. What kind of mouse do you have?

Hi,

I have a similar problem on my notebook (Acer Extensa),
but only while booting with an external mouse attached,
so that during boot external PS/2 mouse and the internal
touchpad are enabled.

The result is, that the external mouse is not usable and
eventually locks up the system with
/kernel: psmintr: out of sync
errors.

If I boot without external mouse, but attach it after system
is up, I can use both devices concurrently without problems.

It would be nice if that would work right away.

Btw, I'm running 3.4-STABLE with PAO3.4 (for PC-Card-stuff).

Regards,
 Daniel

I am also having this problem on bsd 4.0 with a microsoft intellimouse. It
seems that whenever the kernel gets feedback from the mouse it gives an
error. Under X the mouse works if you move it slowly. If fast it will
randomly jump over the deskop and click all sorts of goodies. I have been
following a thread on deja about this and it has reached about 200
messages.

Hi

Since updating to 4.1-RELEASE my 3 buttons logitech ps/2 mouse becomes
sometimes completly crazy.

The problem can't be reproductible when i want but seems to appear one
times per day.

I'm under X windows 3.3.6 when it crash, the keyboard continues to work
well, and the mouse continues to be broken under console, I have to
reboot each times.
My pc isn't a notebook but a PII laptop, and all sort of apm are
disabled.

psm0: <PS/2 Mouse> irq 12 on atkbdc0
psm0: model Generic PS/2 mouse, device ID 0

Here is the error I see when it crashed.

Aug 14 01:19:25 kephren /kernel: psmintr: out of sync (00c0 != 0000).
Aug 14 01:20:01 kephren last message repeated 34 times
Aug 14 01:20:08 kephren last message repeated 57 times

Is this still a problem with modern versions of FreeBSD?
