Bug 17907

Summary: [sound] Audio record levels are too low
Product: Base System Reporter: durian <durian>
Component: kernAssignee: freebsd-multimedia (Nobody) <multimedia>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.0-STABLE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description durian 2000-04-10 18:00:04 UTC
I get very low levels when I try to record audio. When I try
to record with 16 bit samples (at 8000Hz), most of my samples
are < 0x00ff. When I record 8 bit samples my values are +-1.
I practically have to put my mouth on the mic to get any sort
of deflection. It's almost like we using the MSB for the LSB.

Fix:

I have no fix.
How-To-Repeat:
Buy a crappy Toshiba Equium 7100S with a built-in sound chip
	and give it a try.
