Bug 182601

Summary: Can't exit Network configuration
Product: Base System Reporter: andrew
Component: miscAssignee: freebsd-sysinstall (Nobody) <sysinstall>
Status: Open ---
Severity: Affects Only Me CC: pat, pierre
Priority: Normal Keywords: install
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description andrew 2013-10-03 12:50:00 UTC
Doing install from Boot-only CD:

Network configuration screen - I have
ral0
sk0
prlip0

I have configured the ral0, and dont wish to configure the others. I am
offered the choices <OK> <Cancel>. OK reconfigures the ral0. Cancel
cancels the install. There is no other option <continue> would be a
useful choice.

THIS IS FATAL TO THE INSTALL PROCESS (as in: Had to use Lubuntu instead :-{)

Fix:

An option to <continue> would be a useful choice. (Its possible some other
procedure is required, in which case this should be explained on screen!)
How-To-Repeat: Try to install FBSD9.2 from the boot-only CD via wifi.

Note that I was trying to use a static IP address. If you use DHCP, it
works OK.

Also note that I get an error message about "ral0 multicast callback", but
its gone from the screen before I can make a note of it.

There is no option to make the WPAA PSK visible while typing it - very
difficult with non-meaingful string sequences.

See also bug #211617 (and its proposed patch), which I believe is a duplicate of this one.
