Bug 183655

Summary: FreeBSD 10 Beta2: bootup screen presents "Enter passphrase" for disk encryption out of order, appears to hang at USB keyboard enumeration

Description Nikolas Britton 2013-11-04 10:40:00 UTC
After installing FreeBSD 10 beta 2 on a ZFS encrypted root volume the system asks for the passphrase at boot up at the wrong time, it continues with enumeration and the line asking for the passphrase scrolls off the screen. It appears as though the system hung during device enumeration, but in fact the system is simply waiting for a passphrase to be entered.

How-To-Repeat: Install FreeBSD 10 beta2 with a root zfs encrypted disk.

I confirm that I'm seeing this problem in FreeBSD 10-RELEASE too.

Basically it seemed to me as if system was stuck. I pressed "ENTER" and got:

GEOM_ELI: Wrong key for ada0p4. Tried left: 2.
