 it seems that in order to fix this issue one has to simply import the  
 bootpool created by zfs during the installation:
 
 zpool import -f bootpool
 
 ls /boot
 
 root@Georg:~ # ls /boot

 beastie.4th		delay.4th		loader.conf		screen.4th
 boot			device.hints		loader.help		shortcuts.4th
