Bug 18728

Summary: Audio and video desynch in Realplayer on 4.0-STABLE
Product: Base System Reporter: lcremeans <lcremeans>
Component: miscAssignee: Doug Barton <dougb>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 4.0-STABLE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description lcremeans 2000-05-22 01:00:01 UTC
When I play a RealVideo stream (any version) on RealPlayer 7 Beta with
my old kernel (dated April 15), I notice the audio and video tend to
be a few seconds out of sync. On the latest CVSup pull, the audio also
clicks and makes funny noises when it starts, and is still several
seconds out of sync with the video. RP7 worked fine on FreeBSD 3.4
with the VoxWare drivers.

Fix:

Any ideas?
How-To-Repeat: Play any RealVideo stream on RP7 on a 4.0-STABLE box using the pcm
sound drivers.

I took another look at the problem this morning, and I also noticed the
time counter on RealPlayer started off at about 3.5-4.0 (it varies)
instead of zero, and stayed that way through the the entire clip. I'm
still using the same code drop and kernel as in the original bug report
-- I'll CVSup today and see if the problem is corrected.

Can you please update to the latest version of the port and take special
notice of the suggestion that prints out when you're done installing. Then
let us know if this fixes it for you.

Also, please choose more realistic priorities for your PR's in the future.
Thanks.

Mail to originator bounces, and I'm confident that this problem
is fixed in more recent versions as I used to have it myself.
