X11 stops responding to mouse buttons once in a while, usually after freezes caused by heavy disk I/O. xev(1) shows events from neither mouse buttons, nor "clicks" made using xdotool(1).

Fix:

Restarting X. In about one percent occurences, randomly moving the cursor around, clicking and typing returns it back to normal.
How-To-Repeat: Start a job that requires a lot of memory and causes swapping. Use any mouse-reliant program and wait for the freeze. After it, the pointer will be unable to click.

Oops. I mean, it is likely to be caused by the WM. Never experienced this (yet) after switching from spectrwm to i3.
